History
The Canyon is GMC’s midsize pickup truck, available in Regular Cab, Extended Cab, and Crew Cab versions. For the 2004 model year the Canyon replaced the Sonoma which was one of the first domestically built compact trucks when it was introduced in 1982 as the S-15. The name was changed to Sonoma for the 1992 model year.
The 2007 GMC Canyon receives two new engines, new standard equipment and a revised interior. Under the hood is a new 185-horsepower 2.9-liter VVT 4-cylinder engine that produces 190 lb-ft of torque and a 242-hp 3.7-liter 5-cylinder that produces 242 lb-ft of torque. The Canyon also receives a new transmission speed sensor for improved shift quality and a standard tire-pressure-monitoring system. Available are new 15-inch five-spoke chrome-finish aluminum wheels and new 18-inch bright-finish aluminum wheels which are standard on the ZQ8. The interior of the SLE and SLT is fitted with chrome accents on the door handles, air outlet control knobs, front door sill inserts, small speaker bezels and instrument cluster trim rims. Also in the SLE and SLT is a center stack and HVAC trim that’s painted Nova Silver, cloth added to the door insert padding and Ebony as a new trim color. Three new exterior colors are added.
