History
The Sierra 1500 is GMC’s half-ton pickup, available in Regular Cab, Extended Cab, and Crew Cab versions. The Sierra was introduced in 1999 as a replacement for the C/K with all-new styling and new V8 engines. The GMC brand name goes back 90 years and offers a pickup truck with styling to differentiate from the Chevrolet pickups. For 2007 the Sierra 1500 is completely redesigned with all-new major components, stronger and stiffer fully boxed frame, restyled exterior and more spacious interior. Highlighted by a unique hood, grille, bumper front fenders, headlights, taillights, more steeply raked windshield and reduced body gaps, the Sierra 1500 rides on a wider and lower stance with a new coil-over-shock front suspension. Also new are 170-degree opening rear access doors on extended cab models and a family of larger 17-, 18- and 20-inch wheels. Offered in four trim levels (work truck, SLE and SLT) including the exclusive Sierra Denali, the Sierra 1500 comes in regular, extended and crew cab versions with three different box lengths: 5 feet 8 inches, 6 feet 6 inches and 8 feet. With a towing capacity of 10,500 pounds and a maximum payload capacity of 2,160 pounds, the 2007 Sierra 1500’s V8 engines has a rating up to 367 horsepower and 375 lb-ft of torque.
The 2007 Sierra 1500 has a new interior that features distinct and spacious designs including increased storage capacity in center consoles and glove boxes, noise-reducing materials, increased room in the rear seat and instrument panels that are positioned down and forward for better visibility and spaciousness. The Sierra SLT features a luxury-inspired interior with unique instrument panels, seats, console, glove box, door panels and trim. Standard equipment on the SLT include heated 12-way power-adjustable (driver seat) leather seating, 6-disc CD/MPD3-capable audio system, Bose speaker system and heated windshield washer system. Crew Cab SLT adds rain-sensing automatic windshield wipers and a rear-seat audio system. The Sierra work truck and SLE come with a “pure pickup” interior that features larger controls and door handles. The SLE1 also comes equipped with a new 40/20/40-split front bench seat, which features a fold-down armrest and storage compartment. The Sierra Denali is powered by a 400-horsepower 6.2-liter V8 and mated to a new six-speed automatic transmission. Featuring a Z85 suspension, four-wheel disc brakes, 18-inch aluminum wheels and a elevated level of style and luxury on the interior, the Sierra Denali offers a number of unique features and options.
