Bridgestone Americas Holding, Inc., through its subsidiaries, is an international manufacturer with 55 production facilities throughout the Americas. The Nashville Tennessee-based company is the largest subsidiary of Bridgestone Corporation, based in Tokyo, Japan.
We trace our roots to the establishment of The Firestone Tire & Rubber Company in 1900. It was then that 31-year-old Harvey S. Firestone started tire production with 12 employees in Akron, Ohio.
On the other side of the globe in 1931, Shojiro Ishibashi created Bridgestone Tire Company Ltd. He created the company name by reversing the English translation of his own. "Ishibashi," which literally means "stone bridge" in Japanese.
Bridgestone Americas is proud to carry on the tradition of excellence established by its founders, blending Japanese and American methods to provide quality products.Our philosophy is summed up by the mottos of these two visionaries.

Harvey Firestone's constant goal for his company was to be the "Best Today - Still Better Tomorrow."
Technological Leader
Bridgestone Americas is a leader in world tire technology. We draw upon the strength of our global group of companies and utilize the tri-polar research and development centers in Tokyo, Akron and Rome to produce advanced tire technologies for products that consumers want. We operate world-class proving grounds in Ft. Stockton, Texas; Sao Pedro, Brazil; and Acuna, Mexico. Our tire testing centers around the world verify that our research and development is on the right track.
In many cases, the race track is our test center. Our participation in CART, IRL and Formula One racing benefits our technology as well. From the race track, to the interstate, to the street where you live, the knowledge we gain in developing our race tires helps make us all winners.
UNI-T AQ is a revolutionary system that allows tires to perform well in the wet, even in a worn condition. This tire technology keeps performance up as the tread wears down. The newest development, UNI-T AQ II, incorporates additional enhancements to the previous technology making the tire performance even stronger in wet and dry conditions, both when the tire is new and as it wears.
Quality Products
Tires are the largest part of our business, accounting for approximately 75 percent of annual revenues. Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire, LLC develops, manufactures and markets tires for almost every kind of vehicle. In fact, we sell more than 8,000 different types and sizes of tires - from a 13-foot-tall giant radial for earthmoving equipment to a kart tire that stands only 10 inches high.
In addition to tires, Bridgestone Americas is recognized internationally for producing a variety of quality products, including air springs, building materials, synthetic and natural rubber, and industrial fibers and textiles.
Our plants are QS9000/ISO9000 Certified and work every day to continuously improve their operations, resulting in the quality products you receive. All of our Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire, LLC plants and most of our Bridgestone Firestone Diversified Products, LLC have also achieved ISO14001 Certification for their environmental efforts.
Sales and Marketing
We sell tires for passenger, light truck, truck, bus, off-the-road, agricultural, motorcycle and kart applications through more than 12,000 outlets, including independent dealers, discount retailers, warehouse clubs and our company-owned stores.
We operate Firestone Tire & Service Centers, Mark Morris, Expert Tire, Tire Station and Tires Plus retail outlets for automotive tires and service. Our GCR Tire Centers serve the commercial industry with truck tire service and retreading, agricultural, forestry and flotation tires and service and also services our off-the-road customers with tires and service for the mining and construction industries.
Community Involvement
Our company is committed to being a good corporate citizen nationally, regionally and especially in the communities where we have manufacturing plants, sales facilities or offices.
The Bridgestone Firestone Trust Fund supports many community involvement programs with a special focus on education, children, environment and conservation. This multi-million dollar effort has provided innumerable benefits including literacy education, scholarships, chemical dependency rehabilitation, healthcare, civil rights support, environmental conservation, housing, and support for public radio, television, libraries and museums.
