Marco Andretti, driver of the #26 NYSE car, tried to capitalize on an alternative fuel strategy and ultimately finished fourth at Sunday s running of the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. With the finish, Andretti gained 11 spots in the IndyCar Series championship and now stands ninth, only 36 points from the lead.
Starting second, Andretti quickly settled into the NYSE car. On lap 39 of the 100-lap event, Andretti came in for a pit stop that would throw him out of sequence with the leaders in the hopes of finishing the race with only one additional stop. Despite flawless pit stops from his crew, several yellow flags came to the aid of the field. With less than 40 laps remaining, Andretti was able to make his way by Sam Hornish Jr. and finish in fourth place.
